K-pop girl group NewJeans has added another major streaming milestone to its impressive global career, even while remaining on an extended hiatus.
According to ADOR on September 6, NewJeans’ hit song “Super Shy” surpassed 900 million cumulative streams on Spotify as of September 4, reaching a total of 900,048,067 plays.
Released in July 2023 as one of the triple title tracks from the group’s second EP “Get Up,” “Super Shy” is known for its upbeat sound, catchy rhythm and Jersey club-inspired production. The song quickly became one of NewJeans’ signature global hits.
With this achievement, NewJeans now has three songs that have surpassed 900 million Spotify streams, following “OMG” and “Ditto.”
The milestone is particularly notable because NewJeans has remained largely inactive since March 2025. Despite the group’s approximately 18-month hiatus, its music continues to attract millions of listeners worldwide, demonstrating the lasting popularity of NewJeans’ catalog.
NewJeans has also accumulated more than 8 billion Spotify streams across all of its released songs, further highlighting the group’s extraordinary influence on the global K-pop scene.
“Super Shy” was already a major international success upon its release. The track spent eight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and nine weeks on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100, establishing NewJeans as one of the leading K-pop acts among international listeners.
Even without new music or active promotions, NewJeans continues to generate impressive streaming numbers around the world.
For K-pop fans, the latest milestone is another reminder that a powerful song can continue to grow long after its initial release.
