South Korea’s 2026 local elections and parliamentary by-elections saw not only millions of citizens heading to the polls, but also some of the country’s biggest K-pop stars encouraging fans to participate in democracy.

Among them was BTS member Jin, who cast his vote on June 3 after briefly returning to Korea from the group’s ongoing global ARIRANG world tour.

Members of K-pop group ODD YOUTH also encouraged fans to vote. All eligible members, excluding the Japanese member who could not participate in the Korean election, cast their ballots together.

Fellow member Summer expressed similar pride, saying:

“As a proud citizen of Korea, I exercised my precious right to vote.”

Their messages resonated with many young fans experiencing their first opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
