From purple braids and Korean hanbok-inspired outfits to viral K-pop beats, America is living through a full-on K-culture takeover – and honestly, we’re here for it.
K-Pop Demon Hunters Dominated the Top 5 Halloween Costumes
According to USA Today and Google Trends, the top five most-searched Halloween costumes in the U.S. this year all came from Netflix’s animated hit, K-Pop Demon Hunters ( aka KeDeHun).
- LUMI, the fearless leader of the girl group HUNTR/X, took the #1 spot. Her iconnic long purple braids, yellow crop jacket with Korean dancheong patterns, and norigae caharms on denim shorts have become the look of 2025. Add her glowing violet sain-geom sword, and boom — instant perfection.
- & 3. went to her teammates JOY and MIRA, while 4 and 5 went to the demon boy group SAZA BOYS members JINWOO and BABY. Even the tiger spirit DEO-PI, inspired by traditional Korean folk art, ranked in the top 10.
Sold Out Everywhere — Even Spirit Halloween Couldn’t keep Up
The craze is so real that coustumes have sold out across U.S. stores.
Spirits Halloween, the country’s largest costume retailer, comfirmed that every HUNTR/X outfit — both adult and kid’s sizes — was gone by mid -Octorber.
Fans on TikTok and Instagram are posting DIY tutorials, showing how they braid and dye their own hair to match LUMI’s look.
USA Today reported that in over 80% of U.S. metro areas, at least one KeDeHun-inspired outfit ranked in the top five Halloween searches. And accprdoing to NBC News, even birthday parties and cosplay events are now going full K-Pop Demon Hunters theme.
From Fictional Idols to Real – Life K-Pop Sensations
But the craze didn’t stop at the costumes. When the real voices behind HUNTR/X – Lee Jae (LUMI), Audrey Nuna (MIRA), and Rei Ami(JOY) perfomed “Golden” live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the video exploded.
Within just 24 hours, it hit 8.5 million views, and crossed 10 million the next day. Fans flooded the comments with “
“No cover can beat the original.”
“They should debut for real.”
“Debut song already Billboard #1? Unreal!”
Lee jae, a singer-songwriter and fomer K-pop trainee, is now officially launching solo activites in Korea appering on variety shows and music programs.
