BTS has officially added another major trophy to its global career, winning three awards at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMAs) — including the prestigious Song of the Year award.
The K-pop supergroup won Song of the Year for “Swim,” the title track of their fifth full-length album “ARIRANG.” BTS also took home awards for Best K-Pop and Best Group, making it a three-award night for the group.
The 2026 MTV VMAs were held on September 27 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Although BTS could not attend the ceremony due to their schedules, the members shared their thoughts through their agency.
“ARIRANG is like a new beginning for us, so this award feels even more meaningful,” BTS said.
The group added, “We believe we were able to receive such a great award, Song of the Year, thanks to everyone who loves our music. We will continue to show you great music and performances as all seven members together.”
They also expressed their gratitude to their fans, saying, “We sincerely thank ARMY for always giving us unwavering love and support.”
BTS Wins Song of the Year at the MTV VMAs for the First Time
The Song of the Year award marks the first time BTS has won the category at the MTV VMAs.
“Swim” competed against several major global hits, including “Golden” from the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters, Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Bring Your Love,” and Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas.”
Winning the award with “Swim” gives BTS another memorable milestone following the release of “ARIRANG,” an album that represents a new chapter for the seven-member group.
BTS Continues Its ‘ARIRANG’ World Tour
BTS is also preparing to continue its massive “ARIRANG” world tour.
The South American leg will begin on October 2 in Bogotá, Colombia, followed by concerts in Lima, Peru; Santiago, Chile; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and São Paulo, Brazil.
The group is scheduled to perform 14 shows across five cities in South America.
With three MTV VMA trophies now added to the group’s collection, BTS is once again showing why its return as a seven-member group remains one of the biggest moments in global K-pop.
