A major tragedy in Hong Kong has shocked the world — and it’s now raising questions about one of the biggest K-pop events of the year, the 2025 MAMA Awards.
As K-pop groups like IVE, (G)I-DLE, RIIZE, ENHYPEN, TXT, ZEROBASEONE, and NCT WISH departed through Incheon Airport for Hong Kong on the 27th, global fans were excited to see their favorite idols on the MAMA stage.
The ceremony is scheduled for November 28–29 at the Kai Tak Stadium and will be livestreamed worldwide through multiple platforms, including Mnet Plus.

On November 26, a massive fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court, a high-rise residential complex in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district.
According to major outlets like AP, Reuters, and SCMP, 36 people lost their lives and 279 remain missing — one of the most heartbreaking incidents Hong Kong has faced in recent years.
Because of this tragic event, some fans and locals are asking whether the 2025 MAMA Awards should continue as planned, considering the emotional atmosphere and ongoing rescue efforts.
