PARIS, France — The 2026 edition of the Korea Expo Paris 2026 has concluded with its strongest performance yet, drawing massive crowds, international buyers, and unprecedented business opportunities for Korean companies.

Despite temperatures approaching 40°C (104°F), visitors formed lines stretching hundreds of meters outside the exhibition hall, highlighting the growing global demand for Korean products and culture. Industry participants described the event as a major milestone for the rapidly expanding Korea Expo brand, with some suggesting it is now competing with long-established Japanese trade and cultural exhibitions in Europe.

Record-Breaking Growth for Korea Expo

Hosted jointly by the Korea International Trade Association and Exporum, the three-day event wrapped up on June 20 after setting new records across nearly every key metric.

This year’s expo featured:

  • 215 Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
  • 405 exhibition booths
  • Participation from 12 local governments across South Korea
  • 7,598 professional buyers
  • 35,406 total visitors

Compared with the previous year, buyer attendance increased by 17%, while overall visitor numbers rose by more than 15%.

The event took place at the renowned Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, one of France’s largest exhibition venues.

Long Lines Despite Extreme Heat

One of the most talked-about scenes of the expo was the enormous crowd waiting outside the venue each morning.

On the final day, visitors began lining up more than an hour before opening. The queue extended for several hundred meters and continued throughout the day until admissions closed.

According to venue officials, it is highly unusual for an exhibition to attract such sustained crowds every day of the event.

The turnout demonstrates the growing popularity of Korean consumer products among European audiences, particularly in categories such as K-beauty, food, lifestyle goods, and wellness products.

Korean Brands Gain Valuable Exposure

Many participating companies reported stronger-than-expected interest from both consumers and buyers.

Kim Da-yeon, CEO of cosmetics distributor Eurostep, said she was surprised by the scale of attendance at an event featuring only Korean brands.

The company used the expo to promote several Korean beauty labels and introduce its European-focused multi-brand beauty platform, “Glowme,” to international audiences.

Several exhibitors admitted they underestimated demand and brought insufficient inventory, forcing them to adjust their strategies during the exhibition.

European Buyers Show Strong Interest

Beyond consumer engagement, the expo delivered substantial business opportunities through its B2B matchmaking program.

Over two days, 267 business consultations were conducted with buyers representing major European retailers and distributors, including:

  • Carrefour
  • Galeries Lafayette
  • Le Bon Marché and other leading retail partners

Buyers from France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and several African markets attended the meetings.

An Hye-mi, CEO of Korean seaweed company Kimsiwol, noted that European buyers appeared highly focused on product quality rather than brand recognition. She also expressed optimism about discussions regarding logistics, pricing, and distribution conditions.

Korea Expo Establishes Itself as a Major Global Business Event

Launched internationally in 2023, Korea Expo has rapidly evolved into a platform that combines both B2B business networking and B2C consumer experiences.

The event’s continued expansion is particularly noteworthy given economic challenges such as currency fluctuations and rising operating costs. Organizers believe the strong participation and measurable business outcomes demonstrate that Korea Expo has become one of the most effective overseas platforms for promoting Korean products and brands.

As interest in Korean culture continues to spread across Europe, the success of Korea Expo Paris 2026 highlights how K-beauty, K-food, and Korean lifestyle products are transforming from niche trends into mainstream consumer categories.

KOREA FBI Editor’s Comment

The remarkable success of Korea Expo Paris 2026 shows that the Korean Wave is no longer driven solely by K-pop and K-dramas. European consumers are increasingly embracing Korean beauty, food, wellness, and lifestyle products, creating new opportunities for Korean SMEs to expand globally. With record attendance and growing buyer participation, Korea Expo is quickly becoming one of the most important international gateways for Korean brands.
