A new chapter in the globalization of the K-pop system has begun as Santos Bravos, the Latin idol group created under HYBE, released their new album DUAL, showcasing a dynamic blend of Latin rhythms and global pop production.
The six-track album highlights the group’s concept of dual identity, balancing playful youthful charm with intense, instinctive performance energy.
Latin Sounds Meet Global Pop Production
The album’s title track MHM is a melodic Latin pop song built around warm vocals layered over soft synths and rhythmic percussion. The track captures the delicate emotions of falling in love — the excitement, hesitation, and anticipation of a relationship just beginning.
While songs like KAWASAKI and 0% highlight the group’s powerful stage presence, “MHM” reveals a softer and more refreshing side of Santos Bravos.
Other standout tracks on the album include:
- WOW – a bright, energetic track with a rhythmic Latin groove
- VELOCIDADE – a high-speed track inspired by Brazilian funk
- FE – an emotional Latin ballad showcasing the members’ vocal abilities
Together, these songs move across genres including reggaeton, Brazilian funk, and club pop, reflecting the group’s cross-cultural musical identity.
Global Hitmakers Join the Project
The album also features an impressive lineup of internationally renowned producers.
The entire project was produced by Johnny Goldstein, a hitmaker known for working with artists such as Black Eyed Peas, David Guetta, and Madonna.
Additional collaborators include Grammy-winning producer Diplo, HYBE founder Bang Si-hyuk, and Latin Grammy-winning songwriter Vibarco.
Their combined influence helped shape the album’s polished global pop sound.
Documentary Series ‘Behind DUAL’ Coming to Spotify
Fans will also get a behind-the-scenes look at the album’s creation through the upcoming documentary series Behind DUAL.
The five-episode series will premiere on Spotify on March 16 at 10 a.m. (KST). Each episode will focus on a different member and the group’s journey during the album’s production.
New episodes will be released weekly on Spotify every Monday, followed by uploads on the group’s official YouTube channel on Tuesdays.
A New Step in HYBE’s Global Idol Strategy
Santos Bravos was formed through a reality series developed under HYBE’s “Multi-home, Multi-genre” global strategy, designed to expand the K-pop training and production model into different regional markets.
The group officially debuted in Mexico in October last year and is already preparing for major Latin American festival appearances, including:
- Estéreo Picnic in Colombia
- Tecate Pa’l Norte in Mexico
- Empire Music Festival in Guatemala
- Tecate Emblema in Mexico City
Their rapid expansion into large festival stages signals the growing influence of the K-pop training system in global pop markets.
KOREA FBI Editor’s Comment
For years, the K-pop system has been one of South Korea’s most powerful cultural exports.
Now, companies like HYBE are pushing that model beyond Asia — building idol groups tailored for different regions of the world.
Santos Bravos may represent the first major Latin idol group built with the K-pop blueprint. If their success continues, we could soon see the rise of a truly global idol ecosystem where the K-pop model shapes pop music worldwide.
